7 Months Old

How Old: Seven Months
Weight: 15lb 9oz (around the 20th percentile)
Length: 26 3/4 in (around the 50th percentile)
From the Doctor: We did visit the doctor at MUSC on May 21st about her "stork's bite/hemangioma" and the doctor diagnosed it as a capillary malformation (Port Wine Stain) and we now have  an MRI scheduled for June 25th to check the capillaries in her brain.  We are praying that it has not affected and will not affect her brain, but rather just be a cosmetic spot on her face that we can eventually laser if we choose to lighten it.  You can read more details in this post: http://pearlsandperfectionproblems.blogspot.com/2015/05/dr-appointment-and-first-trip-to-beach.html
Clothes: She is wearing 9 months in jammies and in anything that snaps at her diaper due to the length.  In shirts and dresses she can still wear 6 months, 6-9 months, or 9 months.  She is in size 3 diapers.
Sleep: She is still waking once a night for a feeding, but I can take that over what she was doing last month :)  She takes a morning nap, afternoon nap, and then an early evening nap.  She is usually in bed by 7:30 or 8:00 and sleeps until around 5:30 or 6:00 with one feeding around 2 or 3am.  After her feeding she goes immediately back to sleep.  She sleeps in her crib for naps and at night.  Sometimes I do get lazy after her middle of the night feeding and don't feel like walking her back across the house to her crib.  In those cases, she sleeps between me and Daniel for a couple hours until morning time.  She also still sleeps great in her car seat!!!  It is almost a given that if I put her in the car, she is going to sleep :)
Food: Food has been VERY different this month because we have been experimenting with solids!!  She LOVES her solids, and she has enjoyed every food I have given her except peaches which is ironic since I am from the "peach town" of Gaffney.  Haha!  Her schedule at the beginning of last month was nurse when she woke, oatmeal and a fruit an hour or so later, 5 oz bottle after her morning nap, 5 oz bottle after her afternoon nap, nurse when I got off work, oatmeal and veggie for supper, and then nurse before bed.  Later in the month, we added three meals of solids: breakfast was still oatmeal and a fruit, lunch was just a solid and no oatmeal, and supper was oatmeal and a solid.  I have been making the majority of her baby food which I hope to post on that soon!  The pediatrician said to try a new food for 3 days before trying another new food in case of an allergic reaction.  So far Emersyn has eaten: mashed avocado, mashed bananas, pureed peas, pureed carrots, pureed sweet potatoes, pureed apples, and pureed pears.  I would say her favorite so far are the pears :)
Emersyn's Firsts:
**I have failed again on writing the exact dates of many of these :(  The end of the school year is always crazy to say the least, and I was doing good to simply make it through the daily necessities.  These are some of the things Emersyn experienced for the first time this past month!
- Eating various solid foods
- CRAWLING!!  She is mobile now and into everything :)
- First Word: "MaMa" she said this the Thursday before Mother's Day!!!
- First Mother's Day with Mommy: May 10th
- Swimming in the Pool: We played in the pool one Sunday afternoon at Mimi and Pappy's and you loved the water!  It was too cool to put you all the way in, but you kicked your feet like crazy. May 17
- First beach trip: We stayed at Wild Dunes and you loved the ocean, sand, and pools there.  You also loved riding in your stroller looking at everything and taking naps in it on the beach.  Mommy and Daddy are so happy you love the outdoors! May 21-24  http://pearlsandperfectionproblems.blogspot.com/2015/05/dr-appointment-and-first-trip-to-beach.html
- Pulling up to stand:  I went in to get little girl from her afternoon nap on Memorial Day and found her standing straight up in her crib holding on to the rails.  Growing up too fast! May 25
Emersyn Loves: Laying in the bed between Mommy and Daddy in the mornings, touching everything new, putting everything in her mouth, her new food, drinking water from a spoon, being outside, riding in her new baby tricycle, crawling around with all her toys in the bonus room, riding in the stroller or car seat, watching TV (still very limited at home), playing with the TV remote or our cell phones, her blanket!!!!, her baby doll from Aunt Jessie, swinging in her swing outside, playing in water, the sand at the beach, and squealing at other children she sees
Emersyn Dislikes: being too hot, having to lay still to change clothes, getting her face wiped after eating, when the car is not moving, getting off her nap schedule, having to sit more than 10 minutes in her Rock n' Play or other seat
Emersyn is Learning to: Crawl around everywhere, pull up to a standing position, eat various solid foods, pick up almost anything with her hands (and if she needs she uses her feet for assistance too), laugh and smile A LOT to communicate
Mommy's Favorite Thing: The highlight of this month was watching you have so much fun at the beach!!  I was afraid that you would not love it as much as I do, but you enjoyed everything about it.  We are going to have so much fun this summer in the pool, at the lake, and at the beach making memories with you.  I also LOVE how huge your smiles are getting and how you are beginning to laugh out loud more.  Anytime I am away or whenever you wake in the mornings, you give me the biggest smiles that melt my heart.  I also love how curious you are.  Though it does exhaust me, I know you are determined to learn as much as you possibly can during the hours you are awake. It was also fun watching you try new foods this month :)
Daddy's Favorite Thing:  Daddy says, "I love how intuitive you are and how you study and learn new things.  I also love how your personality is exploding and how you look at me with those pretty brown eyes."
What I've Learned This Month:
** Packing for a Baby takes a LOT of time and SPACE: You should have seen our car on the way to Charleston!  My 4 Runner had every ounce of space filled with our things from home... 90% of Emersyn's things from home.  I am glad we did a small 3 night beach trip before our week long beach trip just so we could practice packing and see what we needed, didn't need.  The vast majority of what I packed for little girl we used!  Babies just need a lot of items.  I am working on a "what to pack for baby" post to help all of you mamas out there who are getting ready to take your sweet one to the beach!
** Trust God with your child: We are in a waiting period medically with Emersyn, God through Emersyn has really been teaching me a lot about faith and putting my trust in Him and resting in Him this month.  No matter what the outcome, God has an awesome plan for our sweet baby girl and I am honored to be her mommy!

She wouldn't stay still and loves to climb everything, so we just put the sticker on the back of her :)

 Eating peas

I still fall asleep in my car seat often!

Playing with my baby doll... that I mostly chew on :)

 Morning bed head!!

 Enjoying some carrots

Riding on my new tricycle outside while daddy plants our annuals

Our little family went to Strawberry Hill for breakfast the Saturday before Mother's Day to celebrate because I knew how hectic holidays are for both of our big families!
We had a fun day just the 3 of us :)

Daniel and Emersyn cooked breakfast for me Mother's Day morning!!  And sadly I did not get any other pictures on Mother's Day :(  Honestly, the day went by WAY too fast.  We left the house at 9:00am for church and did not return home until 8:00pm after visiting our mothers and grandmothers.
Taking Mother's Day pictures with Emersyn's cousins for Gran Gran

You can only imagine how difficult it was to capture 4 children at just the right time.  Emersyn decided she was bored and wanted to pick the grass instead :)

Lilly stopped by to play with Emersyn one Saturday!!  She LOVES babies :)

 Best Friends!!

I love being outside especially in my swing!

Where's Emersyn?  She loves playing with hats.
