Teeth: 13 that are all the way in (4 top, 4 bottom, 4 molars, 1 eye tooth)
Clothes: She is in 18 month clothes and size 4 diapers. She can wear some 24 month tops, but the pants are way too big in the waist. Her shoe size has already grown to a size 6!!
Sleep: I think I need a tab labeled sickness haha, but I will put it under sleep since it has directly affected her sleep. Back at the end of January, she caught the croup, and it took 3 weeks to get her naps back on schedule. We had a perfect week of sleep, and then she started running a fever on a Friday evening. I went ahead and took her to the doctor that Saturday morning because her fever was in the 102s, and I knew her pediatrician office would be closed on Sunday. I told the doctor what had been going on and how we finally got back on a sleep schedule last week from the croup. She commented, "Well, her sleep is about to be destroyed again." They did a flu test - negative, ears looked great, throat looked great, they did a UTI test - negative (which was terrible by the way, watching the nurses put a catheter in my baby. I was not prepared for that), they also did a white blood cell and platelet count which came back normal. So, we were sent home and told to keep her fever down with Motrin/Tylenol and to come back if she still had a fever in 3 days. That Sunday morning, her fever spiked to right at 104 and was like this until Monday night. She was pitiful!! And if any of you know my girl, she is ACTIVE. Hand, foot, mouth disease didn't slow her down much nor did the croup... but this bug kept her laying on her mommy pretty much 24/7. She would not play in the floor longer than 5-10 minutes and took a nap about every 2 hours. It was like having a newborn again sleep wise. I have to admit, I hated seeing her feel so bad, but treasured all that snuggle time since she doesn't hardly slow down enough for it now. She took naps on me and slept with Daniel and me at night so I could keep an eye on her high fever. Yes, I know we were destroying her sleep once again that had only been back on schedule for one small week, but making sure her fever didn't get high enough to cause seizures was more important to me. Tuesday morning, she woke with a low grade 99 fever (when I had planned to take her back to the doctor). It stayed low until lunch, so I decided not to take her back to the doctor. That afternoon around 3, her body broke out into a rash. I called the doctor and she said to bring her in the morning. She was finally diagnosed with Roseola on Wednesday morning (she first started fever the Friday before). It took her really until the weekend to gain energy back. SO, for a week she took naps on me and slept with us at night. She immediately adjusted back to sleeping in her crib all night after being sick... but we restarted the nap battle. This last week we are getting back to normal sleep for naps!! So from January 29 to March 28... I have had 2 weeks that Emersyn has been on a correct nap schedule. Hoping spring brings better sleep and NO SICKNESS!!!!
Food: She continues to enjoy many of the same foods. All fruits, oatmeal, whole wheat waffles, spaghetti, cheeses, avocado, goldfish, pretzels, cheerios, pb&j, rice, and ham. She will try most things we give her. Vegetables are still a challenge, but I always continually offer them because sometimes she surprises us :) Here is her schedule (minus the sickness):
7:00 Wake/Bottle
8:00 Breakfast
9:30 Snack
11:30 Lunch
12:00 Nap
3:00 Snack
5:30 Dinner
7:00 Bath/Stories/Bedtime
Emersyn's Highlights:
- She is repeating everything!! She has become a little talker this month :) Some of the words I love hearing her say are: "yes" "please" "thanks" "shoes" "up stairs" and any family names
- She is continuing to role play and make believe a lot with her toys and babies. We had my friend Jennifer and her family spend the weekend with us this month, and they have a 7 week old baby. We got out her younger things that were put away like her activity gym, rock n play, etc for the baby Gabe, and Emersyn was adorable playing with them using her babies. We have actually left the activity gym out upstairs in the play room because she likes to put her babies on it to give them tummy time :)
- She is also playing independently for much longer periods of time. I think the role playing is helping with this too!!
- She can express most all of her needs and wants to us know.
- She uses a spoon really well with foods that aren't too liquid. She is good at putting foods like oatmeal, cottage cheese, and macaroni in her mouth by spoon. We still have to put it on the spoon for her most times.
- She is becoming a little helper. She is great at helping me unload the utensils, (minus the knives) cups, and plates from the bottom rack of the dishwasher and she gives me the pillows when we make the bed. She will also follow directions when I ask her to bring me something or put something away. She loves taking our clothes to the laundry room and knows exactly which dirty clothes bin is mommy's, daddy's, and Emmie's.
- We had a blessed Easter season with our families and are beyond thankful for Jesus and the cross!! As usual, the holiday went by too fast and we longed for more time to spend with all the people we love. Emersyn loved the egg hunts and learned how to say "alive" because we kept telling her "Jesus loves you" and "Jesus is alive."
- She LOVES praise!! Getting her to open her mouth to brush her teeth can be a battle... but with praise she does wonderful. Naps can be a battle... but when she does do them correctly and she wakes in her bed after nap time, she is clapping her hands for herself when I go to get her up haha!!
- For discipline this month, the main thing she struggled with was channeling her frustration. She will hit or bite items sometimes and sometimes hit us. We use time out for this and say "no hit." She will also sometimes bite her arm if she is frustrated and we tell her not to hurt Emersyn. Luckily so far she has not bit us or other people (that we know of). She is of course always less patient if she is hungry or tired.
Emersyn Loves: Shoes and putting them on to go outside or places in the car, swinging and sliding, playing with her babies, her family, hugs and kisses, giving "bonks" on the head to family, playing upstairs with all her toys, getting into drawers, finding and opening Easter eggs, TV (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse), her paci and blankie (not looking forward to weaning those away!!!), playing in the bath, reading books, changing her babies' diapers, going on stroller rides outside, the neighbors' dogs, and looking for birds outside
Emersyn Dislikes: Having her face wiped, flip flops between her toes (found that out yesterday... guess I have shoes to return), and the Easter Bunny
Emersyn is Learning to: Talk and repeat anything you ask her to, use a spoon correctly, help with simple tasks and chores around the house, take some clothes on and off, unscrew caps, unzip zippers, and role play.
We have LOVED this warmer weather!! She has enjoyed playing outside so much this past month!
Daniel turned 30 years old on March 2, so we took him to dinner! Emersyn cannot quit drooling over the dessert long enough to look up for a picture :)
That girl and her paci... Prayers needed when we decide to take it away!!
Finally getting to use her Christmas present from Mimi and Pappy! She loves eating lunch and snacks on her picnic table!!
Enjoying a pb&j sandwich
Our friends, Jennifer and Jason, and their 2 children (who are 1 yr old and 7 weeks old) came to stay with us one weekend this past month. I am sick that we forgot to take any pictures... but we did get these of Emersyn before they arrived. We pulled out the Rock n' Play for baby Gabe, and Emersyn literally played with it and her baby for over an hour. She loves being a "mommy" to her babies. Then she decided she wanted to crawl in and be a baby again...
Loves her Minnie Mouse lunch box!
Sitting real close to Aunt Elizabeth hoping for a taste of coffee!
Reading Llama, Llama
Daniel took some pictures of Emmie one afternoon in our backyard.
Since we didn't schedule professional Easter pictures for Emersyn this year, I had Daniel take her pictures in the peach field before they stopped blooming.
She loved wearing her bracelet for pictures!!
Precious toes!!
She has learned how to get in the kitchen chairs by herself. This is that "Am I suppose to do this?" look.
The Saturday before Easter, we decided to have a family day exploring egg hunts!! This was on our front porch before leaving the house. She was not excited about taking pictures :)
Talking to Peter Cottontail...
Our first stop was the City of Greer Egg Hunt. She had fun finding the eggs... but didn't want to get too close to the Easter Bunny!
Trying on the new bracelet she found in an egg.
Opening all the eggs to see what prizes she has
Next, we drove to the Mauldin Egg Drop. It was pretty neat!! They had the baseball fields at Sunset Park covered in eggs and then a helicopter flew over the field and dropped more eggs. I also loved that His Radio was live there playing Christian music.
Tasting her first "Smartie" candy
Looking up in the sky at the eggs falling from the helicopter
What's inside??
Terrible selfie attempt...
The only way to get a family picture... selfies do not compliment us haha!!
Our sweet neighbor, Katie, dropped off an Easter surprise for Emersyn
Look at my messy hands!!!
Loving life laying in the grass... this makes her daddy's heart skip a beat haha!
Notice the broccoli in her hand... her daddy let her pick it from the garden and eat it outside, unwashed!! Only with daddy...
Dying Easter eggs at MamaDoris and PaPa's on Good Friday (again... missed getting pictures with them and with all her cousins that were there too)
She was actually more into squishing the eggs than dying them...
This is as close as Mimi could get her to the Easter Bunny at the mall!!
The Saturday before Easter we went to our church's egg hunt!! Again, I have got to get better at taking pictures because I meant to get one with her Sunday School buddies that were there but totally forgot :(
Love her sweet smile!!!
So glad her cousins Addison and Emma joined us for the hunt!!
Bouncy houses with Mimi and Addison
Go Addie!
My oldest child lol!!
Easter morning
The Easter Bunny stopped by...
Running to see what the Easter Bunny brought...
We asked Emersyn, "What did the Easter Bunny bring you?" and she immediately said, "EGGS!" with tons of excitement!! I guess she may have gone to one too many egg hunts :)
Looking at her new water bottle like mommy's
Bubbles!!
And of course every good Easter Bunny brings saline spray!! We have a very practical Easter bunny ;)
Opening her make up kit, no it's not real make-up!! Now maybe mommy can put on her make up a little easier.
Saying "please" for her daddy to open the make up.
We stopped at my parents before church on Easter morning to take pictures.
She's saying "where's pappy?" He was still getting ready...
After church, we had lunch with Daniel's family at his parents' home. All the cousins!!
Aunt Elizabeth and Matt

Papa and Emersyn
That evening we went back to my parents for dinner. Momom and Papa came up to see Emersyn too, but sadly I forgot to get a picture of her with them :( I've got to be more intentional with my pictures!! The Easter Bunny visited Emmie, Uncle Clay, Daniel, and me at Mimi and Pappy's.
Uncle Clay and Emersyn!!
