17 Weeks... It's a ?????

How far along? 17 weeks (Feb. 16th)

Baby size: Navel Orange, 4.94 oz, 5.12 in

Total weight gain/loss: Went to the doctor on Feb 13th and have gained 4 pounds

Maternity clothes? Mostly pants and a few cotton t-shirts.  Daniel and I went out for Valentine's the Friday before Valentine's and stopped in at the mall.  I found a pair of maternity jeans, a sweater, two nursing gowns, and panty hose to add to my small maternity wardrobe.
Stretch marks? Nope, but very itchy stomach.
Sleep: Still loving it!!!  Bedtime is as soon as Emersyn is down for me :)
Best moment this week:  Ahh!!  There were a lot of great moments!!  Daniel and I got to go on a date!!  Day dates are my absolute favorite because even not pregnant, I'm simply not a night owl.  We left for Greenville around 1pm, and stopped at the mall first to look for me some maternity clothes.  Then we headed to downtown Greenville where we walked around for a bit and went in and out of a few shops.  Daniel wanted coffee so we took a coffee break and enjoyed having time to talk to each other without being interrupted by a toddler.  We had 5:30 dinner reservations (because we are senior citizens haha) at Sassafras where I enjoyed delicious sweet potato fries and grits.  I had shrimp on top of my grits, but I was a bit disappointed because they were too salty for me.  After dinner, we walked down to Marble Slab for ice cream.  My normal is chocolate with pecan mixing... well not with this baby.  My new normal is sweet cream with strawberries, blueberries, and granola mixed in.  IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!  After ice cream, we decided nothing would be better than getting home in time to relax with a movie in bed!!  We headed home from our date a bit before 7pm!!  We laughed on the way home because most dates begin around 7pm... not when you are exhausted parents :)

The following Monday we had our 16 week doctor's appointment.  Everything looked great!!  Heart rate was 144 bpm, and we found out the gender!!  We have planned a reveal party for the next Sunday afternoon to share with friends and family.
Then, we enjoyed Valentine's Day as a family.  My mom brought us heart shaped biscuits for breakfast from Chick Fil A and she stayed the morning with Emersyn and me.  The night before Emersyn, Daniel, and I had made heart shaped cookies with frosting and sprinkles, so Emersyn, Mama, and I delivered some to Emersyn's neighborhood friends.  That afternoon Emersyn and I went to Daniel's parents to deliver cookies to them and Emersyn's cousins.  Then, we came home to pick up Daniel and go out to dinner with Uncle Clay at Copper River.  Daniel bought flowers for Emersyn and me and several other goodies.  And of course we ended the night asking Emersyn if she wanted to have a slumber party with mama and daddy (she gets to sleep in our bed about twice a month and LOVES it).  She was thrilled!!
Miss Anything? My speed, being the productive morning person I normally am, enjoying food
Movement: Yes!!  I feel little flutters here and there, but nothing strong at all.

Food cravings: I wouldn't really say I have any cravings.  It's more like, what can I eat that doesn't turn my stomach.  With Emersyn, I had definite cravings and LOVED FOOD by now.  Still eating simply to keep me going.  I mostly rely on cereal, pizza, yogurt, popcorn, pastas, wraps, banana and peanut butter, and G2 blue Gatorade.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Anything heavy, desserts unless they are light and fruity, strong smells in the kitchen.  We ate at Momom's house for the first time since I've been sick.  I thought I was pretty much over my sickness... but my belly is obviously still not strong enough for grandma's cooking.  I had terrible cramps the whole drive home to the point I was praying I was not losing my baby.  I was sick the whole rest of the day until bedtime.  The same thing happened when we ate with my parents for Daddy's birthday.  Mama had a delicious meal, but it was obviously too much for my stomach to handle.  Not sure I will be eating cube steak for a LONG time!!  I was sick that night again.

Have you started to show yet:  I think so!!
Gender: IT'S A BOY!!

Symptoms: Low energy, light headed when bending down and up too fast, many foods make me sick, gag when brushing teeth, pregnancy brain, could sleep all day :)

Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: Telling our family and friends that it's a boy!!

We had the Gender Reveal on a beautiful Sunday afternoon at our church's rec building.  Daniel and I knew the gender already, but not Emersyn.  She has been saying about 80% of the time that it was a baby sis.  We ordered powdered filled baseballs to hit to reveal the gender!!  We had a great time despite that I was sick the whole night before and nauseated that whole day.

 Ready to pitch and reveal

 Blue for BOY!!

Emersyn's immediate reaction... not sure if the powder busting scared her or if she was a little disappointed that it was a boy.

16 Weeks

How far along? 16 weeks (Picture taken February 9, 2017)

Baby size: Avocado, 3.53 oz, 4.57 in

Total weight gain/loss: Have not weighed since last appointment but had not gained weight as of then.  I am pretty sure I have gained some weight now.

Maternity clothes? Some, mostly pants.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Going to bed the earlier, the better ;)  Can't get enough of sleep!!
Best moment this week: I was not sick from Saturday-Thursday (Feb. 4-9)!!!  Friday night, I was doing really great until about 5:30.  I think I had waited too late to eat, but after that I've had really good days.  Sunday we watched the Super Bowl at Daniel's parents house and I was able to eat party food fine, and then I have had so much fun getting out of the house and taking Emersyn to do fun stuff this past week.  On Tuesday, we went to see the play "Wake Up Brother Bear" with her friend Harper and then played at the Airport park in Greenville where we also had lunch at their cafe.  After her nap that day, we meet her friend Lilly at a different park near our house to play!!  We LOVED getting out :)  Wednesday my mom and I went to a consignment sale in Greenville called Switch A Roos and got Emersyn some great deals on summer clothes.  Then on Thursday, Emersyn and I visited my college friends and their children for the afternoon and evening.  Best week of this pregnancy so far!!!

Miss Anything? I still do not truly ENJOY food.  I may like something one day but hate it the next.  I am also missing my energy... still slow!!
Movement: Thursday afternoon I decided to rest a bit on the couch during Emersyn's nap, and I think I felt some flutters.  Hard to tell early on though!!

Food cravings: Wraps, key lime yogurt, pizza, popcorn, fruit, peanut butter toast, G2 blue Gatorade, simple foods.

Anything making you queasy or sick: We ate at Cracker Barrel with my parents last Friday night, and I ordered hashbrown casserole as a side because I usually love it... well, took one bite and one bite only.  I could not get past the taste of onions to enjoy the hashbrown part.  I still stray away from "home cooked food" anything with lots of ingredients (casseroles, stews, things with gravy, involved soups, etc).  I also do not enjoy desserts still (which is TOTALLY not me).

Have you started to show yet:  I think so!!
Gender: Still thinking boy because girls love chocolate... and I can't stand chocolate right now :)

Symptoms: Tired, low energy, bloating in evenings, itchy belly, gag when brushing teeth, terribly dry skin on my face (having to visit dermatologist), forgetful

Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: We find out the gender next Monday (Feb. 13)!!!  Excited to hear the heartbeat, and make sure everything is going great with our little one :)  Also, tomorrow Emersyn is spending the night with Gran Gran and Papa for Daniel and I to have a date night!!  I asked him the other day when our last date had been.  His response was: umm September 2014?  (That was a month before Emersyn was born)  Haha!!  Hasn't truly been that long, but definitely well over due!!
