2 Months Old

Well, I am a bit behind on Emersyn's 2 month post.  She turned 2 months on December 28th, but life has been wonderfully busy with all of the holidays and keeping up with our little one.  Here is what has been going on in the past month!

How Old: Two Months
Weight: 9lb 3oz (between the 5th and 10th percentile)
Length: 22 1/2 in (50th), and her head measured at 14 1/2 in
Sleep: Emmie is a wonderful night sleeper!  There have been a few times that I have not woken up for our middle of the night feeding and she will sleep 8-10 hours without waking at all.  I try not to let her do this though because she needs to eat more often than that since we are trying to pack some pounds on her :)  Bedtime is usually around 8pm and then she wakes or I wake her for a 2 or 3am feeding.  She wakes up at varying times but typically around 7am.  She had been pretty consistent with her morning nap right after her second feeding which is usually around 9:30 or 10am; however, the week of Christmas interfered with her schedule because we had so many gatherings.  She is just now getting back to her normal morning napping routine.   After lunch she usually takes an afternoon "cat" nap for about 30-40 minutes but it is usually in someone's arms or in her Rock n' Play.  She will not lay down well for this one.  And then she takes one around 6pm right before her bedtime feeding.  This one is again a small 30-40 minute nap.  She is not great at daytime naps.  She is VERY alert and loves to see what is going on around her.  She will fight sleep during the day, but I can't complain too much because she gives us no trouble at all sleeping at night.
Food: She is becoming a faster eater these days and gets mad if the milk flow is not as fast as she wants it to be : )  She was eating 20 minutes per side, but she is becoming more efficient and doing about 15 minutes per side.  A typical day would be her 2 or 3am feeding, 7am feeding, 9am feeding, 12pm feeding, 3pm feeding, 5pm feeding, 7pm feeding then bedtime.  She will sometimes squeeze in an extra feeding in the afternoon but she typically does 7-8 feedings in a 24 hour period.
Emersyn's Firsts:
- True shopping trip with mommy and Mimi: We went to Greenville and shopped from 10am to 10pm and you did WONDERFUL!!  We were amazed at how much you LOVE your stroller and love looking around at new things.  You are very observant. - December 4th
- Looking at Christmas lights: Mommy and Daddy drove you around area neighborhoods to see all the Christmas lights.  You decided to sleep most of the time, but we had a great time. - December 7th
- Going to Sunday School and Preaching: you stayed in our class for Sunday School and were quiet until the last 10 minutes, then you were an angel in preaching and didn't make a sound, you also went to the adult choir Christmas program that night - December 14th
- Making Christmas Ornaments: we made Christmas ornaments of your hands and feet to keep and to give as gifts - December 20th
- Your first Christmas!!  We have many pictures in another post to tell all about that : )
- Your first size 1 diapers: December 27th
Emersyn Loves: Looking at the Christmas tree lights (it was sad to take the trees down), riding in her car seat, taking baths and kicking the water, sitting in her Rock n' Play, stretching on her changing table, laying in the floor and playing with her activity gym that Santa brought her, being held facing outwards so she can see what's going on, and she has recently discovered the TV which mama is limiting because she has potential to be an addict she loves it so much :)
Emersyn Dislikes: Getting out of the bathtub, nose sucker, waiting for food, having a dirty diaper, the 5 o'clock hour in the afternoon
Emersyn is Learning to: Put her fists in her mouth, follow people and objects with her eyes, hold her head up during tummy time, reach to touch mama and daddy's face, make sweet sounds to respond when being talked to, smile big, hold onto toys with small rings
Mommy's Favorite Thing: I love how happy you are after your first morning feeding.  I can hardly get anything done during this time now because I love talking to you and hearing your sweet sounds as you try to "talk" back to me.  Your smiles melt my heart, and I love to watch you stretch, play, and enjoy entertaining yourself while laying in the floor now.  You laying on my chest will never get old, and I will never be too busy for you to do that!!  Taking naps like this is the BEST :)
Daddy's Favorite Thing: Daddy says, "I love how happy you get when I come home from work and the smiles and stares that you give me.  I also love that you "enjoy" watching the Clemson football games with me as well as watching other football games.  I foresee season tickets in our future :).  I love the fact the first time I played Tiger Rag for you, you smiled and danced, and now its just a natural part of our day!  Daddy is hoping he is raising a future Tiger!  I still love changing your diaper, because I know how much fun we have once you are all clean!  Everyday there is something new that you do that makes Daddy love you more and more and brings a smile to my face."
What I've Learned This Month:
** There is nothing sweeter in this life than the smile of your baby!!
** My house may never be clean again, but I have a precious angel that makes up for it : )
** You will hear different advice from other mothers, professionals, and even doctors that contradict.  You really know your baby better than anyone else... and you have to do what you feel in your heart is best for your baby.  Ignore comments from people who disagree.
** It is never to early to begin praying for Emersyn, for her salvation, future husband, career choice, the people that come into and influence her life, and more.
** I thought life was so much fun, but I never knew how fun life could be until I had a child of my own!!
