24 Weeks

How far along? 24 weeks
Baby size: Cantaloupe, 1.32 lb, 11.81 in (crown to heel)
Total weight gain/loss: I will find out this Thursday at my next doctor's appointment... I am a bit nervous!!!
Maternity clothes? Yes!  Still able to wear regular dresses and stretchy skirts that are not maternity, but pants/shorts are maternity.
Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: I slept SO good this past week at the beach.  Daniel and I have a queen sized bed at home but our bed at the beach was a king.  We do love each other and like to cuddle, but when it's sleep time, we both like our own space.  If we did not love our bedroom furniture so much, I think we would definitely upgrade to a king.
Best moment this week:  Wow, where do I start.  You can see a trend that I have a really hard time picking a best "moment" each week, but I guess it's a good thing that I have many great moments to recall on : )  Being at the beach all week with Daniel and his family was of course a highlight of the week.  (See pictures below)  The weather was very nice and the breeze kept me from being too hot.  We ate out and cooked some really good food throughout the week, spent some time shopping, and even played putt putt too!

I found out another one of my best friends is having a girl!!!  It is crazy how God is blessing us all around the same time, and I am so thankful to have some of my best friends share in this adventure with me.  Five of the bridesmaids that were in our wedding are all having babies in 2014!  My friend Jennifer (college roommate) just had her baby in April.  Jeanna (friends since Jr. High) is due in August.  Brantley (college roommate) is due in October only 10 days before me.  Monica (teaches across the hall from me) is due in October only 8 days before me.  Diana (friends since Jr. High) is due in November and we are all expecting baby girls!!  I see lots of fun times in the future.  And if that is not enough... we are having a baby explosion in our Sunday School class at church as well.  One couple had a baby last October, another couple just had a baby boy last week while we were at the beach, and two other couples are expecting not including us.  Needless to say, our baby girl is going to have plenty of play dates in the future!!
Miss Anything? My waist!!
Movement: YES!!  I was so excited to have baby kick for Daniel's family this week at the beach.  Miss priss was a bit stubborn though.  She normally kicks large kicks when I lay on the couch after 7:oopm or so.  When I would lay on the couch at the beach, she was completely still.  It was very loud in the house with 8 extra people than she is used to, so the noise could have scared her, but she did not want to share her kicks very much.  Every night when I would lay in the bed and it was quiet, she would start kicking.  She also kicked on the beach when I was sitting in a very relaxed state or reading.  Daniel's mom and sisters did get to feel her one night, but she didn't show out too much.  His nephew may have felt her, but we are not sure : )  I am sure the kicks will get stronger in the next few weeks for everyone to feel.

Food cravings: I ate a lot of seafood this week, almost to the point that I was nervous I had eaten too much.  I had lots of boiled and fried shrimp and flounder.  My favorite meal was the shrimp and flounder at Gulf Stream Cafe.  We also made homemade ice cream two nights which was delicious and made our normal stop at Painter's Ice cream for my key lime ice cream.  I still love cereal for breakfast the most and enjoyed eating lots of cantaloupe and watermelon with my lunch sandwiches to cool me off.  And of course, no beach trip is complete without some Krispy Kreme doughnuts!  I enjoyed several crullers ;)
Anything making you queasy or sick: We stopped at Olive Garden on the way home from the beach and I ordered the chicken lasagna with squash and zucchini.  It was delicious, but the aftermath was not so attractive.  I do not think I have ever burped so many times.  Poor Daniel was trapped in the car with me the whole drive home.  I should have know better since it had a bit of tomato sauce.  Also, salads are delicious to me, but they seem to FILL ME UP to the point of being overly bloated.  One night we went to Bovine's restaurant, and they have a delicious salad bar; however, after eating the salad, I could only eat about 3 bites of my meal.  I had to get the whole meal to go and ate it for supper the next night.
Have you started to show yet: Yep!
Gender: It's a Girl!!
Symptoms:  I thought I was going to be one of those lucky mamas that don't have to deal with swelling, but that changed Friday night.  It was our last full day to be on the beach so I was out by 9:30am and stayed until around 6ish to soak up all I could.  I noticed my feet and ankles were more red than the rest of my leg and wondered how I had gotten sunburned when I put the same number and amount of sunscreen all over.  I then realized the red, rashy color was due to swelling and I guess blood pocketing.  We went in and cooked dinner and left around 9pm to play putt putt.  Although I had fun, it was probably too much for my body to handle.  When we got back to the house after 11pm, I could not see any of my ankle bones at all.  I slept with a pillow propped up under my feet.  The drive home the next day did not help at all.  Sunday, I decided to lay on the couch and do some computer work with my feet elevated.  I literally had to get up to use the bathroom at least every 45 minutes from around 2:00 in the afternoon until 6:00.  I guess my body was just trying to get rid of the fluid build up.  By the end of Sunday, my feet were getting close to normal again.  I am hoping that was only from the heat at the beach and will not be a trend I am starting.

Looking forward to: Going to the doctor this Thursday to hear the heartbeat, see how much I weigh, and make sure things are going okay.  I am also excited to have Thursday - Sunday off of work for the 4th of July holiday.  We are cooking out with Daniel's family on the 4th and then going to my parents' lake house Saturday and Sunday with my mom's whole side of the family : )  Next year I will be searching for a cute red, white, and blue outfit for baby girl to wear!!

23 Weeks

How far along? 23 weeks
Baby size: Grapefruit, 1.10 lb, 11.38 in (crown to heel)
Total weight gain/loss: My last weight check several weeks ago I was up 9 pounds, but I know I am more than that now.  Many people have commented in the last week that I am finally looking pregnant...  I think that is a nice way of saying I've gained weight : )
Maternity clothes? YES!  We left for the beach Saturday and stopped at the Outlet Mall before checking into our rental house.  I was very happy to discover that there was a Motherhood Maternity Outlet there and the whole store was an additional 25% off.  Score!!
Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: I have been sleeping really hard and all night lately.  I am able to stay up later at night, but mornings are still my absolute favorite time of the day.
Best moment this week:  I get such a thrill from being able to watch other people in our family feel the baby kick!  This week my mama was able to feel her for the first time.   Wednesday night I was laying on my parents' couch really still trying to get her to start kicking.  She kicks the most when I am flat on my back towards the end of the day.  Mama was sitting in the floor beside me waiting and waiting for her to start.  Finally she decided to show out for her Mimi :)  I love the initial facial expressions and watching the people I love being able to already develop a bond with our baby girl.  Friday afternoon, I was laying on the couch again and my brother was sitting talking away and baby started kicking.  I placed his hand on my stomach in the middle of his talking without him really knowing what I was doing.  He continued with his conversation, and then she let out a big kick for him.  He just laughed and asked if that was her.  Cannot wait to see them interact in person when she arrives!!

Miss Anything? Being able to quickly get up from laying or sitting down.  Daniel has gotten into the habit of pulling me up especially if it is a deep chair/couch that I am sitting in.
Movement: YES!!  She does a little in the mornings, in the afternoon when I get home from work if I lay on the couch, and pretty much every night when I lay down in the bed.  I am sure she is kicking throughout the day, but I do not notice it yet.  It is probably not strong enough for me to realize at this point unless I am pretty still.

Food cravings: I have really been craving healthy foods this week.  I think because last weekend I ate so much "junk," I was ready to get back into some feel better foods.  We have to eat lunch at 10:30 during summer school, so I am pretty hungry when I get home around 3pm each day.  I was just eating carb snacks but they were not filling me until dinner time, so this week I started making yummy smoothies every day when I got home.  I used vanilla yogurt, almond milk, frozen mango, blueberries, a banana, and ice.  They are delicious and perfect for these hot afternoons.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Tomatoes and tomato sauces, onions, mayo, ranch dressing.
Have you started to show yet: Yep!
Gender: It's a Girl!!
Symptoms: Lower back pain, needing to go to the bathroom very often

Looking forward to: Spending the week at the beach with Daniel's family!!  I am excited about some quality time with my sweetie ;)  and being able to relax, eat good food, and doze off to the sound of the waves.  I am hoping baby girl will cooperate and let Daniel's family feel her kick some this week too!!

22 Weeks

How far along? 22 weeks (June 15, 2014 - Father's Day)
Baby size: Eggplant, 1 to 1.3 lb, 11 - 12 in (crown to heel)
Total weight gain/loss: Have not weighed since last appointment when I was 9 pounds above prepregnancy weight.  I am sure it is more because I am showing for sure.
Maternity clothes? YES!  I can still get away with dresses, skirts, and shirts that are not maternity, but my shorts/capris that I enjoy wearing are maternity.  I found some other maternity capris and shorts at Kohl's this past weekend that are very comfortable, and I had a 20% off coupon.
Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: I have slept like a baby this past week.  Probably because it was during my first week of teaching summer school.  I have not been able to sleep much past 5:30 or 6am, but last Friday morning I slept in until 8am!!  Mon-Thurs of summer school must have wiped me out : )
Best moment this week:  We had several great moments this week.  Friday, Daniel and I went to pick up baby girl's crib.  We found it on Craigslist with the help of my friend Monica.  Monica is due a week before me, and she had found a beautiful crib to buy on Craigslist and shared the pictures with me.  Turns out that when she went to pick up the crib for her baby girl, she learned that the family had twin girls so there was another crib for sale.  We are thrilled to have that taken care of so we can start thinking about getting the nursery together.  Daniel and I also attempted to begin registering Friday at BuyBuy Baby and Babies R Us.  Before we went in, we had already decided that we were just setting up the registry and "looking" because I knew I would be overwhelmed.  We made a nice LONG list of things we knew we needed while in there so we can research at home what brands we prefer.  On the plus side, we learned that both stores are very competitive and match each others' prices, Amazon's prices, and they both take Bed Bath and Beyond coupons.  You know how I love my coupons : )  Sunday was also a special day - Father's Day!!  We were able to spend time with both of our fathers and grandfathers.

Miss Anything? The desire to exercise...
Movement: YES!!  She still kicks the most when I am laying still on my back or side towards the end of the day.  At the end of Father's Day, right before we fell asleep, baby girl decided to kick hard enough for her daddy to feel her for the first time.  He was so excited because I had wrote him a card that morning that said she was going to try to kick for him on Father's Day.  I think she is already a daddy's girl ;)

Food cravings: I have eaten awful this weekend.  French fries, chili dogs (without the hotdog), pizza, Momom's huge Sunday lunch, hot fudge sundaes, etc.  I have got to get back into a healthy routine this week.  It is crazy how you can go from wanting NOTHING for dinner to wanting to eat something off of everyone's entree at the dinner table when you go out to eat.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Tomatoes and tomato sauces, onions, mayo, ranch dressing.
Have you started to show yet: Yep!
Gender: It's a Girl!!
Symptoms: Hungry TOO much of the time.  My belly has hit a growth spurt in the last two weeks.  I am dreading seeing how much I weigh at my next appointment on July 3rd.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: THE BEACH!!!  We are going to the beach with Daniel's family this coming Saturday for a week, and I cannot wait.  I am way past my normal dose of beach time for the summer!  I normally have already been for a week the first week in June, but was not able to because of summer school, so I am beyond ready to go : )

21 Weeks

How far along? 21 weeks (June 7, 2014)

Baby size: Cantaloupe,  12.70 oz, 10.51 in (crown to heel)
Total weight gain/loss: Have not weighed since last appointment when I was 9 pounds above prepregnancy weight. I am sure it is more because I am definitely showing now.
Maternity clothes? YES!  I am needing some more maternity pants and a maternity bathing suit.  If anyone ever wants to make money in Spartanburg, SC please open a maternity store!!  There is little to choose from out there.
Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good this week : )
Best moment this week:  I was off work this week except for Wednesday when we had a work day for summer school, so it was great to enjoy some "me" time.  I LOVE having the mornings to myself because it is when I am most productive.  Monday I spent time in Gaffney with MamaDoris (my grandma) and mama.  Tuesday I ran lots of errands that I was behind on with mama.  I spent the morning Thursday going back to my classroom and finishing setting up what I did not get completed on Wednesday, and then went to my anatomy ultrasound at Regional.  It was so neat to see the baby in such detail!!!  The lady who did the ultrasound said everything looked great, and as far as they could tell, all body parts and organs look the way they are supposed to at this point.  She kept counting while doing the ultrasound, "Two arms, two legs, two eyes, two nostrils", etc.  We praise God for a good report and do not take lightly the gift of a healthy child.  The lady and the doctor were concerned that my cervix may be to short because they could barely see it from the ultrasound.  They explained that this could cause pre-term labor, but after further testing, they said it was completely fine.  Our baby just likes to stay very low!!  We laughed during the ultrasound because every ultrasound we have, baby likes to stay on her bottom and not move.  She does not cooperate very easily, and they always have to press over and over on my stomach to find what they want to see.  We said I was either eating too many potato chips and making the girl a couch potato, or she has Daniel's laid back, cool and calm personality.  Friday, I had fun laying out by the pool with my friend Monica, and then Daniel and I finally had a date night : )  We went to Carrabba's because I LOVE their bread, and then tried to find me a maternity bathing suit... no luck.   Then, since it was National Doughnut day, we had to get our free doughnut!!  We went to the Krispy Kreme on Woodruff road in Greenville.  Sadly, we found out they do not even make my favorite doughnut there - glazed cruller, so I had to settle for an original glazed doughnut.  But what do awesome husbands do for their pregnant wives when they don't get what they want??  Well in this case, they drive to the Krispy Kreme in Spartanburg on the way home : )  I saved my glazed one for the next day and got my cruller!  And it wasn't such a huge sacrifice for Daniel because he ended up getting a free raspberry filled and a free strawberry filled doughnut in the process.

Miss Anything? My brain!  Wednesday during my lunch break, I decided to pick up something and take it back to the school to have a "working lunch."  I had a coupon in my car for an Arby's chicken salad sandwich, so I decided to go there.  I pulled up to the drive through, and looked for several minutes all over the menu trying to find the chicken salad sandwich.  When the lady asked me for my order, I said "I am wanting to order the Market Fresh chicken salad sandwich that I have a coupon for, but I cannot find it on the menu."  She kindly told me that I was at Wendy's and this sandwich was for sale next door at Arby's.  Oh my!  I am seriously losing my mind!!!  I had stared at the menu trying to find my sandwich and saw pictures of Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers, Frosty's, and chili... not a roast beef sandwich picture in sight, but I still did not realize I was at the Wendy's drive through instead of the Arby's one.  I guess that is what I get for making fun of my mom all these years when she does "out of the mind" things like this.  She says it's just a part of motherhood : )

I also miss being able to control my emotions.  In normal life, I am not a crier.  I am the strong one who holds it in, but this baby girl sure has changed that.  On Thursday when we went for our anatomy ultrasound at Regional, I had Daniel, my mom, and my cousin Jeanne there with me.  I was so excited about being able to share this special time with them.  We arrived at 1:45 for my 2:15 appointment because I wanted to make sure they took me on time since I had to be back to my regular OB by 3:15.  Also, Jeanne had to leave for another appointment no later than 3:30.  To make a long, frustrating story short, they finally took me back at 3:15 - yes an hour past my appointment time and an hour and a half past my arrival time.  I was not a happy camper and my insides were pretty torn up... a bit on the angry side because of the wait and the sad side because Jeanne would not get to be there the whole time.  I kept coaching myself to not get upset and cry though.  When we finally get to the room, I hand the ultrasound lady the DVD I had just purchased so she could record the ultrasound for us to show our other family members.  When I handed her the DVD she immediately tells me she is sorry but the one I have will not work, it has to say DVD + RW.  Mine just said DVD + R.  I said, "Are you serious? You are really going to make me cry now," and the tears came splashing down.  I felt like such a baby, but I'm telling you, these emotions even I cannot control.  She left the room, found a spare one and everything was okay except I was a basket-case during the ultrasound I had been looking forward to for the past several months.
Movement: YES!!  No one else has been able to feel her yet though.  I spent the night with my parents Saturday night because I went with mama to a wedding in Gaffney, and she held her hand on my belly for a while but baby would not move.  As soon as she left the room to go to bed, she was back to dancing.  She is either very shy or very stubborn :)

Food cravings: Still love bread and Daniel bought a cantaloupe and cut it up for me one day this week which was very refreshing and delicious on these hot days.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still cannot touch tomatoes :(
Have you started to show yet: Yep!
Gender: It's a Girl!!
Symptoms: Back pain if I sit in one place to long and my calves are still much larger at night than in the morning.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: Picking out things to put the nursery together.  I am pretty sure I am going with pink and green.  Green is my favorite color to use in a home and it is pretty much the "theme" throughout our house.  Our guest bedroom has green walls, so I think I will do the nursery in light pink with green tied in through accents, bedding, cushions, and lamps.

20 Weeks... Half Way There!!!

How far along? 20 weeks (Picture taken June 1, 2014)

Baby size: Mango, 10.58 oz, 10.08 in (crown to heel) previously they only measured crown of head to rump because the legs are usually too curled in or small to measure

Total weight gain/loss: When I went to the doctor this past Wednesday I weighed in 9 pounds above my pre-pregnancy weight.

Maternity clothes? I am wearing my maternity shorts from Old Navy.  I use the belly band for normal pants and wear lots of my normal dresses and stretchable skirts.  Still don't like the way I look in my maternity shirts yet.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: I am able to go to bed a little later but still before 10pm.  I usually have to turn from side to side a bit but fall right back to sleep.  As long as I use the bathroom right before I get in the bed I can usually make it until morning!
Best moment this week:  I enjoyed having Monday off for Memorial Day and spending time with my cousins Jake, Luke, and Drew at my parents pool.   It was also the last week of school for my first graders, so I enjoyed making a few more end of the year memories with them.  Friday was my last day, and Daniel and I had planned to go out for dinner to celebrate.  We got home around 4pm and the couch looked better than a night out.  We decided to take a nap and got up around 8pm for dinner at Tutti Frutti : )  My how date nights have changed lol!!  We spent most of the weekend with Daniel's family watching our niece Addison's dance recital and then celebrated his mama's retirement.

Miss Anything? Date nights!!
Movement: YES!!  She likes to kick when I lay flat on my back usually in the later afternoon.  Daniel has not been able to feel her yet, but she is definitely moving.

Food cravings: I am actually beginning to be able to stomach ice cream just in time for summer!!  We made a Chick-fil-A ice cream run Saturday night for me and had Tutti Frutti Friday night.  This could be dangerous.  Still love fruit, cold pasta salads, cold desserts, cold apple juice... do you see a trend here : )

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still tomatoes and I am still weary of too much chocolate and ranch dressing.  Don't care for anything with onions either.  Daddy got hash for Memorial Day, which is one of my favorites, but I could not get past the smell of the onions to eat it.

Have you started to show yet:  Yep!
Gender: It's a Girl!!

Symptoms: I have been having back pain if I sit in one spot for too long.  I think driving to the beach is not going to be as fun as it once was...

Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: Having this week off before I begin summer school!  And Thursday we get to have the full anatomy exam which I am really looking forward to watching our baby girl for close to an hour!!!!

19 Weeks

How far along? 19 weeks (Picture taken May 25, 2014)

Baby size: Grapefruit, 8.47 oz, 6.02 in

Total weight gain/loss: At the last doctor's appointment in week 17, I had gained 7 pounds.

Maternity clothes? Only my Old Navy shorts.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: We have AC again!!  So sleep is much better : )
Best moment this week:  I had a gender reveal party with my first grade students.  We had such a good time.  They wore pink or blue to show their guess, and then we made a graph to show their guesses.  We had refreshments from the party the day before so it worked out perfectly.  They were so excited and enjoyed being a part of the excitement.  Another highlight was feeling our baby kick for the first time!!!  We went to Strawberry Hill this Thursday on a field trip.  We bounced on the tractor ride, sweated in the field, ate very unhealthy cheeseburgers, fries, and strawberry ice cream, and bounced back to school on the school bus.  We had a great trip, but I was worn out.  I left right at 3:00 and came home to the couch.  I had my iPad on my belly checking emails, and I thought I felt something.  I didn't feel anything again.  I just assumed it was a muscle spasm or something.  Saturday morning, we left for the lake and she kicked several times while we were there.  I like to say that baby girl is like her mama and already loves the sun, boat, and the lake.  Daniel likes to say that baby girl is going to follow her daddy around and farm in the garden since she kicked after visiting the strawberry farm.  We will see who wins that battle ;)

Miss Anything? Laying out in the sun comfortably on my belly.
Movement: YES!!  First kick was two days before 19 weeks!!

Food cravings: This week I wanted Dempsey's pizza so bad!!  It is a pizza place we go to in Clinton, SC on the way to the lake house and it is SOOOO good :)   I also still crave salt and vinegar chips and I found a new favorite snack at Costco called Pirate's Booty.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still tomato things

Have you started to show yet:  Yes!
Gender: It's a Girl!!

Symptoms: Lower back pain when in one spot too long, my legs and feet fall asleep like crazy, and still night bloating in stomach
