17 Weeks

How far along? 17 weeks (Picture taken May 11, 2014)

Baby size: Navel Orange, 4.94 oz, 5.12 in

Total weight gain/loss: Have not weighed since last appointment but had not gained weight as of then.  I am pretty sure I have gained some weight now.

Maternity clothes? Not much.  To work I mostly wear dresses, pants with the belly band, or skirts.  I did buy some shorts that I love from Old Navy that are maternity.  I cannot keep them washed enough : )
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: We are burning up in this 80 degree weather with no AC.  Wednesday night when we went to bed it was 88 degrees in our house.  We have been sleeping with a fan by our bed, but my legs are still stuck to the sheets with sweat.  I know it's gross!  We have called the AC guy and he should be coming out this Monday to fix the coil.
Best moment this week:  Taking a trip with my hubby to Charleston!!  We left early Thursday morning and drove straight to the beach.  It was perfect weather in the low 80s with a perfect breeze.  We ate some good food, did a little shopping, got a nice tan, took naps on the beach, and got to spend a little time with our friends Kathryn and Matt who recently moved to Charleston.  It was a much needed get away for us both.  We came home late Saturday night just in time for Mother's Day.  Mother's Day was special in a new way this year knowing that I am a soon to be mommy!!  My mom took me for a pedicure as a soon to be mother treat and Daniel got me a prenatal massage.

Miss Anything? Enjoying desserts.  Anytime I go to the beach, ice cream and desserts are a must!  But this time I had no desire for late night trips to get ice cream or even for dessert at Kaminsky's.  I also miss being able to lay on my belly.  I am a belly sleeper, and it is beginning to get a little uncomfortable.  It was also hard to lay on my belly at the beach so we did a lot of walking so I would not be two toned : )
Movement: Not yet.  I kept pressing on my belly today hoping the first kick would be on Mother's Day, but no luck!!

Food cravings: I love breakfast food anytime of the day.  I was nervous about eating seafood at the beach this week but it settled  very nicely : )   Still love cold fruit and cold flavored water as well as peanut butter anything, bread, and small snack stuff.  On the way home from the beach, we had to stop at Five Guys to suit my All American food craving of a cheeseburger with extra pickles and french fries.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Ranch dressing, chocolate desserts (which is normally my favorite), anything tomato based, strong smells, ice cream

Have you started to show yet:  Yes!  I really noticed on our trip, but probably because I was in a bathing suit most of the time.
Gender: We both felt like it was a boy while we were at the beach.

Symptoms: Tired more easily, brain cannot multitask as well, forgetful even in the middle of my sentences, still lower abdomen cramps, and this may be too much information, but it is really annoying every time I sneeze because if I do not squeeze my legs together, I may very well pee a bit on myself...

Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: We get to find out if baby McDowell is a he or a she this Thursday!!  Just Daniel and I are going to the appointment and then this Sunday we are having a Gender Reveal Party for all of our family and close friends!!  Cannot wait :)
