21 Weeks

How far along? 21 weeks (June 7, 2014)

Baby size: Cantaloupe,  12.70 oz, 10.51 in (crown to heel)
Total weight gain/loss: Have not weighed since last appointment when I was 9 pounds above prepregnancy weight. I am sure it is more because I am definitely showing now.
Maternity clothes? YES!  I am needing some more maternity pants and a maternity bathing suit.  If anyone ever wants to make money in Spartanburg, SC please open a maternity store!!  There is little to choose from out there.
Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty good this week : )
Best moment this week:  I was off work this week except for Wednesday when we had a work day for summer school, so it was great to enjoy some "me" time.  I LOVE having the mornings to myself because it is when I am most productive.  Monday I spent time in Gaffney with MamaDoris (my grandma) and mama.  Tuesday I ran lots of errands that I was behind on with mama.  I spent the morning Thursday going back to my classroom and finishing setting up what I did not get completed on Wednesday, and then went to my anatomy ultrasound at Regional.  It was so neat to see the baby in such detail!!!  The lady who did the ultrasound said everything looked great, and as far as they could tell, all body parts and organs look the way they are supposed to at this point.  She kept counting while doing the ultrasound, "Two arms, two legs, two eyes, two nostrils", etc.  We praise God for a good report and do not take lightly the gift of a healthy child.  The lady and the doctor were concerned that my cervix may be to short because they could barely see it from the ultrasound.  They explained that this could cause pre-term labor, but after further testing, they said it was completely fine.  Our baby just likes to stay very low!!  We laughed during the ultrasound because every ultrasound we have, baby likes to stay on her bottom and not move.  She does not cooperate very easily, and they always have to press over and over on my stomach to find what they want to see.  We said I was either eating too many potato chips and making the girl a couch potato, or she has Daniel's laid back, cool and calm personality.  Friday, I had fun laying out by the pool with my friend Monica, and then Daniel and I finally had a date night : )  We went to Carrabba's because I LOVE their bread, and then tried to find me a maternity bathing suit... no luck.   Then, since it was National Doughnut day, we had to get our free doughnut!!  We went to the Krispy Kreme on Woodruff road in Greenville.  Sadly, we found out they do not even make my favorite doughnut there - glazed cruller, so I had to settle for an original glazed doughnut.  But what do awesome husbands do for their pregnant wives when they don't get what they want??  Well in this case, they drive to the Krispy Kreme in Spartanburg on the way home : )  I saved my glazed one for the next day and got my cruller!  And it wasn't such a huge sacrifice for Daniel because he ended up getting a free raspberry filled and a free strawberry filled doughnut in the process.

Miss Anything? My brain!  Wednesday during my lunch break, I decided to pick up something and take it back to the school to have a "working lunch."  I had a coupon in my car for an Arby's chicken salad sandwich, so I decided to go there.  I pulled up to the drive through, and looked for several minutes all over the menu trying to find the chicken salad sandwich.  When the lady asked me for my order, I said "I am wanting to order the Market Fresh chicken salad sandwich that I have a coupon for, but I cannot find it on the menu."  She kindly told me that I was at Wendy's and this sandwich was for sale next door at Arby's.  Oh my!  I am seriously losing my mind!!!  I had stared at the menu trying to find my sandwich and saw pictures of Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers, Frosty's, and chili... not a roast beef sandwich picture in sight, but I still did not realize I was at the Wendy's drive through instead of the Arby's one.  I guess that is what I get for making fun of my mom all these years when she does "out of the mind" things like this.  She says it's just a part of motherhood : )

I also miss being able to control my emotions.  In normal life, I am not a crier.  I am the strong one who holds it in, but this baby girl sure has changed that.  On Thursday when we went for our anatomy ultrasound at Regional, I had Daniel, my mom, and my cousin Jeanne there with me.  I was so excited about being able to share this special time with them.  We arrived at 1:45 for my 2:15 appointment because I wanted to make sure they took me on time since I had to be back to my regular OB by 3:15.  Also, Jeanne had to leave for another appointment no later than 3:30.  To make a long, frustrating story short, they finally took me back at 3:15 - yes an hour past my appointment time and an hour and a half past my arrival time.  I was not a happy camper and my insides were pretty torn up... a bit on the angry side because of the wait and the sad side because Jeanne would not get to be there the whole time.  I kept coaching myself to not get upset and cry though.  When we finally get to the room, I hand the ultrasound lady the DVD I had just purchased so she could record the ultrasound for us to show our other family members.  When I handed her the DVD she immediately tells me she is sorry but the one I have will not work, it has to say DVD + RW.  Mine just said DVD + R.  I said, "Are you serious? You are really going to make me cry now," and the tears came splashing down.  I felt like such a baby, but I'm telling you, these emotions even I cannot control.  She left the room, found a spare one and everything was okay except I was a basket-case during the ultrasound I had been looking forward to for the past several months.
Movement: YES!!  No one else has been able to feel her yet though.  I spent the night with my parents Saturday night because I went with mama to a wedding in Gaffney, and she held her hand on my belly for a while but baby would not move.  As soon as she left the room to go to bed, she was back to dancing.  She is either very shy or very stubborn :)

Food cravings: Still love bread and Daniel bought a cantaloupe and cut it up for me one day this week which was very refreshing and delicious on these hot days.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still cannot touch tomatoes :(
Have you started to show yet: Yep!
Gender: It's a Girl!!
Symptoms: Back pain if I sit in one place to long and my calves are still much larger at night than in the morning.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Looking forward to: Picking out things to put the nursery together.  I am pretty sure I am going with pink and green.  Green is my favorite color to use in a home and it is pretty much the "theme" throughout our house.  Our guest bedroom has green walls, so I think I will do the nursery in light pink with green tied in through accents, bedding, cushions, and lamps.
